Begging charity
Every time I see news praising rich people for providing support and amenities amidst the chaos, though I endure the fuzzy feeling of gratitude the news brings, I cannot help but fume at the social situation where we are at the goodwill of the filthy rich to help us. Social media praises and newspaper ads and articles glorifying the philanthropy of these rich bastards, licking their boots and kissing their asses become repulsive once we open our eyes to the fact that the rich do philanthropy because they have a choice to do it and all we can do is sit where we are and wait for some bourgeoise to shine their mercy. We cannot save ourselves. why you ask? it's because of the very existence of these filthy rich.
So, Should we praise philanthropy?
Again, Rich provides stuff because they can. They have the luxury of a surplus. The general population, the poor especially, are unable to fend for themselves because they are in deficit and this is a problem and needs to be recognized as such. Philanthropists are a social problem disguised under the hides of saviors. Even the government is indebted to the rich private corporates.
Giving away money is just rich people justifying being rich.
This doesn't mean all rich people or philanthropy is bad. The surplus of wealth among a few individuals is unnecessary and is destructive in society. It makes the underprivileged and underpowered wait for a person with privileges to come save them in times of crisis like these, leaving them helpless otherwise. We're seeing the consequences of, and sadly praising, the in-equal distribution of wealth and power. The few are rich and have a choice because most are poor and have no choice.
This whole writeup should be blaming the government for the obvious blunder that's happening as we speak but there are distraught cries and muffled screams around us doing the job. This however needs to be spoken about once the crisis is over.
